Floriographic expressions were imprinted on lithographed stiff paper and used as coded messages to express feelings otherwise considered inappropriate to utter--hence their ephemeral nature. One day, I found a Victorian scrap of two potatoes. According to Victorian-era floriography, 'potato' means benevolence. Being a vegetarian the main staple in my diet is the potato, so I thought the floriographic expression was apt, indeed....more
